Ramadan is right around the corner, and with it a lot of opportunities for charity, both in the form of money and good deeds. I love Ramadan, even though I must admit over the past few years, with all the distractions (family and otherwise), it’s been a bit hard keeping in the spirit.
If you’re looking for something to get involved in to help get in the spirit by volunteering or donating , this is a GREAT local cause. Over the past few years this project has been organized and run by MAS Youth Give. Each year they help over 350 New Jersey Families by providing them with a month’s supplies of various food necessities (rice, bread, oil, dates, halal meat, etc.). All it takes is $150 per family, or of course any amount you are able to contribute. It’s really fantastic, and I volunteered to help pack these gift boxes one year and it was wonderful. You feel a sense of community and in helping others realize how blessed you are in your own life. There are so many things we take for granted on a daily basis, so any reminder is a blessing. And the people who run and organize this each year, may Allah bless you with infinite health and happiness. What you are doing is really wonderful masha Allah.
